There are many advantages to having a cellular based digital signage network over a traditional hardwired network such as the ability to move digital signs as needed. Normally digital signs are wall mounted or dropped from the ceiling. Rarely does one see a digital sign on a stand in a retail store because of the nature of the cable runs. This is one area where a cellular digital sign network will benefit the retail store owner. Since a cable connection is not required, one can easily deploy a network that uses stands rather than wall mounts. Each digital sign can be moved to meet specific marketing requirements at a specific time. The only thing that is needed is a power outlet and the sign is ready to receive updated creative work.
Freedom from a physical network connection brings an added versatility to the digital signage network. All digital signs can be clustered in one area of the retail store in support of a special product sale. In another instance one or more of the digital signs can be moved to the store entrance in the mall in support of a sidewalk sale. Placement of digital signs at the point of purchase have proven to be very beneficial to the retail stores profit margin. Cellular based digital signs can even be packed up and moved to another store location and plugged into the power outlet and start operating, once again without the need to physically connect to an in-house network.
Cellular digital signs offer a flexibility never before experienced and allows the retail store owner greater use of their digital signs. Improved wireless and cellular technology will continue to make this type of network deployment more and more attractive to businesses of all sizes.
